HANS SPINNLER

Allow Hans Spinnler to tell you about his career as a flyfisher and how he got hooked: It's all thanks to his father who used to take him along on his fishing trips and who taught him various techniques. At the age of 21 Hans took a beginners' course in flyfishing at a local place. However, it was only after another course at the "Ischler Traun" in Austria with HP. Kirchner that Hans realized what flyfishing was all about. Hanspeter had spotted two large rainbow trouts in the river and suggested that Hans should catch them with a dry fly. Hans tried to look professional while also trying to make out the fish in the water. Finally Hans gave in and handed him his rod instead. He mounted the little grey dry fly and cast the line out. Seconds later the rod bent under the weight of the hooked trout.... Hans never even saw the fly in the water or the fish taking it!!! Hans just marvelled at the precision! After this experience Hans Spinnler was hooked and have been ever since. Shortly after he caught his first atlantic salmon in Norway with the doublehandrod. Hans 'll never forget that feeling - and Hans 've been fascinated ever since and totally passionate about flyfishing for atlantic salmon. A few years later one of his biggest dreams came true: at last Hans was fishing at one of his very own private beats at the Orkla River. This is where Hans met Bernd Czerr, an excellent salmon flyfisher and fantastic connoisseur of the "Underhand-Technique" with the doublehandrod. Hans was totally taken in by his elegant, efficient and "Zen-way" of wieldig the rod. It was an honour to be his pupil and learn a lot about the shooting line systems and "Underhand casting style" For many years now Hans Spinnler 've been teaching this „Underhand-Technique“. Hans personally believe that this is the most efficient casting technique to fish for salmon with a doublehand flyrod.
