Week 25, 13.06. - 20.06.2020 Unfortunately, the borders to Norway are still closed for most countries. However, on June 12th the borders with the other "Nordic" countries (except Sweden) were opened. This gives hope that Norway will soon follow the example of all other EU and Schengen countries and open the borders further. Fishing would be very good. Our representative Björn hooked 6 salmon within 2 days but unfortunately could not land a single one. Our friend Trond Syrstad was able to land 2 salmon on one of our beats this morning. The 15.06. seems to be a very good day. Kasper, a student of Björn, had his 4 lesson in salmon fly fishing today !... his very first fish was 7 kg ... with a little support from Björn. Congratulations to Kasper. And late at night LTS-Guru Trond struck again ... 11.00 kg and 17.00 kg within an hour. Fantastic Trond.
Week 24, 06.06. - 13.06.2020 Heavy rain and temperatures around 12 degrees cause the water level of the Orkla to rise again to over 300 m3 / s! Accordingly, fishing will continue to be difficult in the next few days. In the middle of the week the water level dropped to a fishable level. The first salmon was caught. Two more fish could be hooked, but unfortunately not be landed.
Week 23, 01.06. - 06.06.2020 The 2020 salmon season will be undoubtedly a very special season. Due to the corona virus, many salmon anglers from abroad currently have no way to enter Norway. At the moment only Norwegians can fish on the salmon rivers in Norway. Fishing on all Norwegian salmon rivers is allowed and takes place as usual. For the reasons mentioned above, hundreds of beat's and pools on all rivers in Norway will be free and little to no fishing. This will also have an impact on river catch statistics. There was a lot of snow during the last winter in the mountains. this is likely to result in the salmon rivers carrying enough water for the salmon ascents throughout the season. The warm temperatures in the days before the start of the season led to strong floods in the rivers of the Trondheim region. At the Orkla we also had over 300 m3 / s at the beginning of the season and currently about 250 m3 / s. A little too much water for really good fishing although the salmon are already here and fish are also being caught. Here are a few current pictures of Bakka, Blasmo and brush oils. Due to the high water levels, fishing is only possible on a few sections of the Orkla. But the salmon are in the river. Most salmon were caught with worms and indicators in the first week of the season. The largest salmon to date had 15.10 kg .
