Unfortunately, the 2020 salmon season at the Orkla was also heavily influenced by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic at the beginning of this year. Unfortunately, a large number of our guests were unable to fish with us during this season due to entry restrictions and health concerns. Fortunately, some guests were able to postpone their booked weeks to a later point in the season and enjoyed excellent fishing on the Orkla. Without Covid-19, this season would probably have been the best season in 30 years! On our beats, around half the number of anglers landed twice the amount of salmon than during the 2019 season! The average weight of the landed salmon was slightly lower than in the 2019 season. The reason for this was the large number of grilse (1 - 3 kg) that came to Orkla this season. The large number of grilse in the river this year is not a bad sign of the quality of the Orkla But on the contrary. This means that a large increase in 2- sea-winter fish (5 - 7 kg) can be expected for 2021. It also means that the Orkla's salmon population is excellent and has enough spawned salmon in recent years. For this reason we are convinced that the 2021 salmon season will also be an “excellent vintage”. We are also convinced that we will learn to live with Covid-19 in the next few months and that we will be able to pursue our favorite pastime abroad, fly fishing, again in 2021. Until then, all the best and stay healthy. Fact's: A total of 203 salmon with an excellent average weight of 4.22 kilograms were caught on our beats. Our guests landed 14 !! Giants between 10.00 and 17.00 kilograms, and some other 57 crackers between 5.00 and 10.00 kilograms. The bigest salmon from our beats had a length of 118 cm (about 17.00 Kg). The excellent quality of our Orkla stretch also shows that our guests were able to catch very large salmon throughout the whole season. Over 80% of the salmon caught here were released. For this exemplary behavior of our guests to the preservation of this exceptional fish, we would like to thank you at this point. Total registered catches at Orkla 2020: 6’838 Salmon / 28'553 Kg Almost twice as many as in 2019! The largest salmon had a length of 125 cm (about 20.20 Kg). .
